No 5 南米大陸は化石の宝庫でもあり、アルゼンチンでも未開の北部に行くと化石がまだその辺にごろごろとある。ラプラタ市では「自然博物館」（Museo de Ciencias Naturales）が世界的に有名。人口６４万人のラプラタ市街は一日で回れるが、自然博物館をじっくり見るには一日では足りない。その堂々とした入り口の建物も一見の価値を持つ。

The continent of South America is rich in fossils. There are fossils here and there in northern parts of Argentina. The Museum of Natural Sciences is world-famous with a lot of precious large fossils found only here. One can see the small town La Plata in one day, but more than one day will be needed to see every part of the museum with keen interest. Its stately entrance is also worth seeing.

ここは古代の恐竜や爬虫類に関心ある者には必見の価値がある。いろいろな動物や植物などに関する古代の標本や資料が収められ、古代の恐竜や爬虫類の生き方も想像できる。私の右に二つ見えるのはアルマジロの化石であり、私の身長と比べてもその大きさが分かる。その迫力には誰でも感動する。

Those who are interested in dinasaurs and reptiles must come and see. Ancient scientiic samples and materials on the various kinds of plants and animals are on display here. One can easily visualize how they used to live on earth. One is overwhelmed by the size. You see on my right two fossils of the old armadillos which are bigger than present ones.

森林公園（Paseo del BOSQUE）。この中に自然博物館がある。美しい自然が一杯の「森の散歩道」は本当に気持ちがいい。

Strolling in the Paseo del Bosque is truly refreshing. The museum is inside the forest park.
