５　草原に見える最も貧しい人たちの家並み

電気など勿論ない。首都ブエノスアイレスからラプラタ市に向かうヂーゼル車から撮影。厳しい底辺の様子が車窓からもうかがえる。洗濯物が写っている。とても人の住める環境とは思えないが、これが現実。・・・暴風の時はどうするのだろうか。寒い冬はどうするのだろうか。大雨の時はどうするのだろうか。食べる物がなくなったらどうするのだろうか。カルトネーロはこんな所に住んでいるのだろうか。

This is a slum area on the pampa between Buenos Aires and La Plata. Shabby houses are seen. No decent life is possible. What would they do if there is a storm, a long rain, and a spell of dry season? Do cartoneros live here?
